The Hilton Grand Islander

GL Veneer received a call from Hilton with a specification for almost 500 slabs at The Grand Islander Resort in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii. Working closely with designers and architects, the project called for live edge slabs of multiple sizes and shapes to be used in the suites, lobby spaces, and conference rooms. While meeting the architect’s spec for each location, each tree had to be selected, milled into slabs, and custom kiln dried to make them usable. Completed over the course of several years, the project supported replanting of trees throughout Hawaii — a win for all involved.
